Howdy Marshals,
Thirty years ago, a strange little game about ghost rock, gunfighters, and the Reckoning rode into Gen Con and changed the frontier forever.
We had no idea what would follow!
Deadlands grew into novels, comics, miniatures, card games, video games that almost were, movie pitches that nearly happened, conventions full of laughter and terror, and most importantly tables full of players telling stories together.
And tonight, thanks to you, that story continues.
Your support of the Deadlands 30th Anniversary Kickstarter means more than just funding a project. It’s a celebration of three decades of art, imagination, and community in the Weird West.
From the bottom of our hearts: thank you for riding with us!
Some of you have been here since the very first edition in 1996. Some of you discovered Deadlands through Savage Worlds. Some of you are brand-new Marshals just joining the posse.
However you found your way to the Weird West, we’re grateful you’re here.
This campaign wasn’t just about new books and accessories, it was about honoring the incredible artists, writers, designers, and fans who helped build Deadlands over the last 30 years.
And the best part? The trail doesn’t end here. We’ve got a lot more Weird West ahead of us!
In the coming months we’ll be sharing previews, updates, and progress reports as we bring these rewards to life, we'll have more NEW Deadlands content coming later this year, and in October we’ll gather in person for the Deadlands 30th Anniversary Celebration in Arizona.
Here's a memory from our Deadlands 25th Anniversary celebration in Deadwood, SD in 2021 featuring Shane Hensley, Jodi Black, John Goff, Mike Barbeau, Karl Kessler, and some fantastic cosplay.
The 30th Anniversary Event in Phoenix, AZ is shaping up to be just as epic with catered meals, games in an old west themed town, and even a ghost rock powered shotgun zombie crawl!
Almost sixty of the 100 tickets have already sold, so mark your calendars for October 8th - 11th and get your reservations in soon!
Until then…
Keep your powder dry, Keep an eye on the shadows, And remember—
The Reckoning never sleeps.
Much obliged, partners.

Chris Landauer and Caden Hensley say hello from the Game Manufacturer's Trade Show (GTS) in Louisiville, KY, where they've been talking with retailers, distributors, and our many wonderful friends at other game companies around the world :)
Chris Landauer, Caden Hensley, well-known writer and designer Elisa Teague (who hosts an AMAZING Deadlands Noir game!), and another attendee at the Pinnacle trade show booth.
Back here on the home front, the Deadlands anniversary campaign is going incredibly well!
The team is racing forward with the final edits and layout of the new books, and the only one behind on their deadline is ME (Shane)! But it's for a good reason. My work on the 30th Anniversary Celebration book...the "behind the scenes" book with everything you ever wanted to know about the creation and development of Deadlands, running a game company, pitching to Hollywood, and more...is a little behind because I've been able to reach people I haven't talked to in decades about some of our seminal events—like the Headfirst PS2 game that never was, the first attempt at a prepainted Deadlands miniatures game...and the SECOND...and so much more!
And because I've seen a few folks who seem to have missed this on the main page, anyone who backs the celebration book during the Kickistarter gets your name printed inside! This book is all about the history of Deadlands and YOU'RE a part of that journey, so we're happy to honor you right in the pages of this once-in-a-lifetime book, partners! We'll even give you a little extra space for a nickname, loved one, or other special person if you like.
(Please remember that we WON'T won't be able to include names for those who add the book as a late pledge or during the pledge manager phase as it will already be off to print.)
Thanks for supporting us for THIRTY YEARS, partners! See you on the haunted High Plains!

Yeehaw! Thanks to YOU we've been able to take Deadlands from its glorious past to its exciting future! It's been a long and winding road but it sure seems to have gone by fast. We've had three real editions, a couple of different printings, and a passel of adventures together. We're thrilled our opening day went so well--it was harder than our team makes it look to pull together so many products AND hit the sweet spot for existing fans and tinhorns alike, so thanks again from the bottom of our twisted little hearts, partners!
The project today—and especially the live celebration event in Arizona—is a HUGE undertaking, especially for a company of four full-timers and a small but dedicated group of supporters. We hope that surprises you. We hope our games look as amazing as the largest companies in our industry. And we hope they bring you years of phenomenal sessions with you and your besties. That's our goal. You've kept us going for thirty years and we'll keep trying our damndest to earn it for another thirty.
Happy trails, partners...see you on the fearsome frontier...
